Continue down the historic rail belt to Anchorage, Alaska's largest city and "Gateway to Alaska", where the amenities are comparable to major cities in the lower 48 states.  Past Anchorage is Talkeetna, a small and peaceful mountaineering town with a population of 800.  This small town is the main staging area for climbers attempting Mt. McKinley, one of the most majestic mountains, and also gives way to a little Alaskan small-town flavor.  End this leg of the cruise tour in Fairbanks, "Alaska's Golden Heart" 200 miles South of the Arctic Circle, where you may just be around in time for the World Ice Art Championships.  Be sure to ask your Royal Caribbean Cruises touring professional about all the wonderful sights and experiences Alaska has to offer.
